More than just a 30-Minute Workout
by Suzi Rowe

Do you remember the show Cheers? Do you remember when Norm would walk into the bar to be greeted with a resounding… “Norm!”? Well, that’s what it’s like to be a part of the new and improved Curves located along Jackson Creek Parkway near Kohl’s. At the Curves at Jackson Creek…..everybody knows your name!

As many know, Curves is a one-stop fitness and health center exclusively for women that provides a total body workout (aerobic and strength training) in just 30 minutes. In addition, Curves offers Zumba classes as well as individual fitness, weight loss, and health goal support.

Although there are Curves located in more than 85 countries, this Curves is in a class of its own! Many great friendships have developed within this unique community of women. Many of us stay after our workouts to have a cup of coffee together, share our days, laugh, and get to know one another better. Because our friendships have grown, many members get together for lunch, hike together, knit together, have parties together, or go on retreats together.

It has been almost a year since the Monument Curves merged with the Gleneagle Curves and relocated next to the Liquor Mart. From Jackson Creek Parkway, you can see the word WINE next to the Curves sign on the side of the building. The members think it’s a fitting combination since this Curves is such a festive place to be!

Even more unique is that this Curves was recently purchased by three of its long-time members who didn’t want it to close after going up for sale this summer. So many women in our community depend on this particular Curves for more than just exercise. At this Curves, members truly connect with one another. Many, who may be lonely and need a warm, friendly place to be, have found Curves to be a truly special place. When a member is sick or a husband is deployed or a loved one has died or you need the name of a good dermatologist or some ideas for your daughter’s wedding or you need to network about schools or jobs or you need advice on how to deal with a sick pet or a leaky toilet or you just need someone to laugh with or cry with or whine with…well you just go and work out at Curves on Jackson Creek! Between the manager, Dianne Ohlrich, and the new owners, Bea Crimmel, Dicki Chong, and Paula Simon, at least one of them will know your name and know you are truly someone special!
